Artist statement

I’m a Devon-based realist painter inspired by the seascapes and landscapes of South West England. Working mainly in oils on canvas, I build my paintings through multiple layers to create depth and atmosphere. I also paint still lifes, exploring light, form and colour in a more intimate way.

Extended Bio

I’m a Devon-based realist painter, and my work is rooted in a strong connection to place. After studying art to O level, I went on to build a successful career as a Chartered Accountant before returning to painting in 2024, beginning my journey as a professional artist. I work mainly in oils, with occasional pastel pieces, and my subjects include seascapes, landscapes and still lifes. I am drawn to locations across the South West of England, and I aim to capture more than just what I see. I want my paintings to convey the atmosphere, character and feeling of being in a place. My still life work gives me a chance to focus more closely on light, form and composition. Whether I’m painting the coast, the countryside or objects in the studio, I work in a realist style and build each piece carefully with attention to detail.
