Artist statement

Devon-born artist Annabel blends music, movement and visual art, reflecting her love of materials and experimentation. She creates dynamic mixed-media paintings that reimagine the everyday, from architecture to nature, through layers of texture, colour and collage. Having grown up in Newton Ferrers, the natural world is an inevitable source of inspiration.

Extended Bio

Annabel Kennedy is a local artist, who grew up in Newton Ferrers. She is a professional opera singer and trained at the Royal College of Music in London, before moving to Düsseldorf in Germany to work at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Annabel has always been very creative and enjoyed painting and drawing in her free time. It wasn’t until the pandemic hit 5 years ago that she had a space and opportunity to start a business, whilst the performing arts world was at a standstill. A big source of inspiration for Annabel is her ties to Devon and growing up in such a beautiful part of the country. ‘Annabel Kennedy Artwork’ aims to capture the essence of everyday objects and places from a new perspective, achieving this through mixed media collaging and layering of different materials, to create tactile and unusual pieces. The main focus of Annabel’s artwork is the natural world, animals and architecture.
