Artist statement
I explore light, and form through pinholes and analogue photography including historical processes such as cyanotype and black and white 35mm film. Rooted in craft, my work invites a slower way of seeing, revealing the subtle interplay between natural phenomena, material and image.
Extended Bio
Alasdair Gordon is an artist and educator working with analogue photography and historical processes including cyanotype, pinhole and camera obscura. His practice is rooted in careful observation of light, colour and natural phenomena, drawing inspiration from Goethean approaches to seeing.
Alongside his studio work, Alasdair leads land-based and craft-focused learning at Whites Farm in Devon, where photography sits alongside green woodworking, clay and practical science. His work and teaching share a common aim: to cultivate attention, material understanding and a deeper relationship with the natural world.
